ONE Opportunity programme is having an information evening on 16 January 7pm at Elm Ridge Methodist Church. It’s an opportunity for anyone in the District to come and hear what ONE Opportunity can do for their young people in their churches/circuits.
What is the ONE Opportunity?
The scheme is for young people aged 16-23 years and offers a salaried position of 3 hours per week for 1 year in a project that will enhance the life and mission of their local church and enable the young person to work out their discipleship in new ways. Up to twenty four young people can be funded across the region (12 in each district) each year.
When did it start?
ONE Opportunity North East launched its first year in September 2016. This year we have 11 young people taking part in the scheme. All the young people attend an induction day and three residential weekends during the year as part of their commitment which enables them to be part of a community of young people learning and reflecting together.
What does it cost?
We are asking the church and circuit to contribute £550 between them towards the 3 training weekend costs, in whatever ratio they feel is appropriate. The district will then pay the salary for 3 hours a week at living wage rate. It would be helpful if anyone interested would make contact as soon as possible, so we can guide them through the process in person.
How do I get involved?
For more information and how to apply as either a church or a young person, please contact either Helle Sewell or Sarah Walton (details below). We can provide you with more detailed information in our scheme pack and application form.
