‘Germinate Leadership’ aims to build your creative skills for rural church leadership

Following the success of the first national ‘Creative Leadership in the Rural Church’ programme starting last year, the Arthur Rank Centre is open for applications for the next programme, starting in October 2014, under the new name ‘Germinate leadership’.

The challenges facing rural communities require imaginative responses. The 18 month ecumenical programme helps participants - both lay and ordained - develop their creative and entrepreneurial skills for effective rural church leadership. Elements include a personal mentor, a residential, input days, a 360 degree appraisal, work shadowing and a portfolio reviewed through a ‘professional dialogue’. External support covers two-thirds of the cost, and a bursary is available on the £975 participant fee where necessary.

“The programme has been inspirational” said a participant. “The combination of theology, leadership training, peer and mentor consultancy, spiritual development, stories from rural experience, in theory and practice, has given me renewed enthusiasm and confidence in my ministry. It is has been a vital part of my continuing formation and learning.”
